At the General Assembly: A Senate bill filed to allow families to open bank accounts for disabled individuals that would not affect their ability to earn federal and state benefits; a Senate bill filed prohibiting public school employees from being involved in political advocacy and causes; Rockingham’s school board changes bill has made it through its House committee; a Senate bill filed to reverse the deal the city of Raleigh currently has with the state to sell part of the Dorothea Dix property; a Senate bill filed to amend the state’s indecent exposure law.

This Guilford County school board member is stepping down from his post, because he no longer lives in the district he represents.

Greensboro’s new police chief has been sworn in.

There are  more ferries to Hatteras and Ocracoke for Easter and spring breaks.

A union of university professors is expected to organize this weekend in Greensboro.

North Carolina has almost 10 million people according to the U.S. Census Bureau, with Mecklenburg County having 1 million of those people and Wake County having about 999,000 people.
